Hierarchy of Light

Hierarchy of Light gathers works from the Text and Time cycle into a sustained meditation on the sign. Reduced palettes of yellow, ochre, graphite and red slow the act of looking. Forms appear frontal and balanced, like diagrams whose meanings remain deliberately open.

Text, figure and ornament occupy a single pictorial order. Repetition makes time visible; minute differences resist it. The paintings are quiet without being empty, holding the concentration of ritual objects and the tactile presence of painted surfaces.
